Welcome to my blog, where I will be taking you with me through my adventures down under. The next few months are going to be crazy, but before I get there, I have to do a lot of other things to get done.
But I'll skip through all of the stressful stuff, like applying to the program, buying health insurance, and housing (which still isn't figured out), and instead I'll tell you all about what I'm feeling and what the next 40 days are going to look like.
Here and Now
It's about to get real....
For those who might not know me well, I grew up in a small town, mostly with my mom and brother, and my mom's parent's close by. I've always been incredibly attached to my home and my family, and moving to Philly two and a half years ago was incredibly difficult. But, once I got here I made some of the best friends (s/o to my besties, Abby, Grace, and Sarah). These people grew to be my second family, and my home away from home.
But a little while ago a big chunk of my second family went and studied abroad so I was forced to find a third little family. And although they might not know this, these were my co-workers at Schmear It, an incredible little company schmearing up custom bagels and spreads.
But now Abby and Grace are back from studying abroad and everything is great here in Philly. I have my amazing friends, my fantastic co-op with my lovely co-workers, and my family not too far away. So as you can imagine, leaving my family, my best friends, my co-workers and some other amazing people (you know who you are), through this journey to Australia has me incredibly emotional.
So much is instore for me in the next few months, but I can't get over my fomo ("fear of missing out") while I'm gone.
Upcoming 40 Days
But on the bright side, I am going to try to make the most of the upcoming days till I leave. It's going to be incredibly busy with moving out of my apartment, finding a sublet, getting all my necessary documentation and vaccines, and let's not forget...packing. But you know what, it'll all be worth it, you know why? Kangaroos. That's why.
Till next time...
Christine
